Why are there cut-outs in the display protection glass and film?
The equipment on the front of your smartphone / tablet depends on the brand and model. These components can be found there and are protected as follows:
- Front camera and flash:
Generally speaking there is no cut-out here since, thanks to the high light permeability and highly transparent design of the display protection glass, there are no impairments. This means the camera and flash are protected from dirt and dust.
- Proximity and brightness sensor:
the sensors, which are often hard to spot on black smartphones / tablets, are always left uncovered. The sensors respond with great sensitivity, e.g. to artificial and natural light, and brightness depending on the time of day, so these places must remain uncovered.
- Loudspeaker:
this is always left uncovered by the protective glass to ensure sound quality.
- Home button:
if a manual home button (e.g. with fingerprint scanner) is present, this is not covered by the protective glass. This ensures that its function is not impaired.
If there is no manual home button, but rather touch buttons, then these are protected by the glass.
